Reading

Reading INTENT statement

At Little Horsted CE Primary School, we believe that reading opens doors to imagination, understanding and lifelong learning. We want every child to see themselves as a reader and to develop a genuine love of books that will stay with them throughout their lives. Through high-quality texts, rich discussions and meaningful reading experiences, we nurture confident, fluent readers who are curious about the world around them. Rooted in our Christian values, we encourage children to read with empathy, wonder and enjoyment, helping them to grow not only as successful learners but also as thoughtful, compassionate individuals. Our aim is for every child to leave Little Horsted with the skills, confidence and enthusiasm to read for both purpose and pleasure.
