Science
Science INTENT statement
At Little Horsted CE Primary School, our Science curriculum is rooted in our vision to Live, Love, Learn in the Light of the Lord, encouraging children to explore God’s world with curiosity, wonder and responsibility. We believe hands‑on investigation is vital, and we give pupils rich opportunities to develop their scientific thinking and knowledge through practical experiments and enquiry questions linked, where meaningful, to our termly themes.
Our values shape the way Science is taught: kindness and love are shown through collaborative investigations and respect for living things; respect guides thoughtful discussion and careful use of equipment; community is strengthened as children work together to test ideas and share discoveries; aspiration inspires pupils to pursue new questions and tackle challenging concepts; and resilience is built as they repeat tests, refine predictions and learn from unexpected results.
Through this values‑driven approach, we aim to develop confident young scientists who can ask meaningful questions, plan fair tests, analyse findings and feel excited by the discoveries they make, enabling them to thrive in a rapidly changing world as they Live, Love and Learn in the Light of the Lord.
