History

History INTENT statement
At Little Horsted CE Primary School, the study of History ignites children’s curiosity about the past in Britain and the wider world, helping them understand how previous events, people and cultures shape the present and influence the future.
Guided by our vision to Live, Love, Learn in the Light of the Lord, our History curriculum uses the values of kindness and love to encourage empathy for people’s experiences across time, respect to help children appreciate diverse cultures and viewpoints, and community to build a strong sense of belonging through exploring local history. We promote aspiration by inspiring pupils to learn from significant individuals and civilisations, and resilience through challenging enquiry, evidence analysis and critical thinking. By nurturing thoughtful questioning, historical understanding and reflective decision‑making, our intent is that all children develop a strong sense of identity and a lifelong curiosity about the past as they Live, Love and Learn in the Light of the Lord.
