Art and Design

INTENT statement

At Little Horsted CE Primary School, our Art and Design curriculum is guided by our vision to Live, Love, Learn in the Light of the Lord and shaped by the values of kindness, love, respect, aspiration, resilience and community.
We aim to inspire and challenge all pupils through a range of creative experiences in both 2D and 3D, encouraging them to explore colour, shape, pattern and texture with confidence. Children learn from a diverse range of artists and designers, developing respect for different cultures and a growing understanding of art’s role in history and society. Through sketchbooks, pupils record ideas, experiment with materials and adapt their work, building resilience as they refine and improve their designs. Collaboration and shared creativity strengthen our sense of community, while aspiration is fostered as children strive to express themselves and develop their skills.
We value the creative process as much as the final piece, celebrating every child’s effort as they Live, Love and Learn in the Light of the Lord.
